Nicholas, a father of five children with disabilities, has shared the challenges he and his wife face while raising their family. After years of struggling with infertility, the couple prayed for a child and, instead of one, were blessed with five children, each living with disabilities.
According to Nicholas, he and his wife married in the 1980s through a traditional ceremony. After a year without conceiving, they continued to pray, trusting that God would bless them in His time. After 15 years, they prayed specifically for one child with a disability, hoping for guidance and support. Their first child, a daughter, was born healthy but developed mobility issues and now crawls instead of walking.
Subsequent pregnancies resulted in four more children, each facing different challenges. One boy was born deaf and mute, and others also have severe impairments, including inability to walk or communicate verbally. Doctors reportedly told the family there was no medical solution for the children’s conditions.
Nicholas explained that caring for all five children at home has been extremely difficult. He and his wife work by cultivating land for others to make ends meet and provide medication and basic necessities for their children.
Now, Nicholas is appealing to well-wishers for financial assistance to establish a small business. He hopes this will generate sustainable income to support the growing needs of his children, as manual labor and farming have become increasingly strenuous for him and his wife.
