National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has reassured parents that the 265 students and teachers abducted from St Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Agwara LGA, Niger State are safe and will soon be reunited with their families.

Ribadu delivered this message during a visit to the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, Most Rev. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, conveying hope on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He highlighted that the president has suspended travel plans to personally monitor developments and ensure the rescue operation proceeds effectively.

On the mission’s progress, Ribadu noted that government teams are working round the clock to secure the safe return of the abducted students and teachers, taking careful measures to avoid jeopardizing their safety. He emphasized the importance of unity among Nigerians in confronting security challenges and supporting the efforts of the nation’s security agencies.

The NSA revealed that the rescue operations are benefiting from support by domestic and international partners, including the United States, France, and the United Kingdom. He expressed confidence that this collaboration would strengthen the ongoing mission and enhance the prospects of a successful outcome.

Reassuring the bishop, Ribadu affirmed the government’s commitment to persist until all students and teachers are safely returned. He stressed that continuous coordination among security agencies, local communities, and international allies remains central to the operation’s success.
