Kogi: Soldiers Rescue 6 Kidnap Victims Days After Church Attack

Troops of the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued six individuals kidnapped during recent criminal attacks in the Ejiba and Saminaka forests of Yagba East Local Government Area, Kogi State. The operation was confirmed on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, through a statement by the Brigade’s spokesperson, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, in Lokoja.

Abdullahi explained that the rescue formed part of ongoing efforts to combat banditry and kidnapping in the region. The military operation, supported by a Nigeria Police helicopter, tracked the abductors’ movements, forcing them to abandon the victims under sustained pressure.

Five of the rescued individuals have already been reunited with their families in Egbe and Ejiba communities, while the sixth is receiving medical care. The Army emphasized that operations will continue across the forests to prevent criminals from regrouping or establishing new hideouts.

The rescue follows a recent attack on a Cherubim and Seraphim church in Ejiba, during which bandits abducted the pastor and several worshippers. Lieutenant Abdullahi reassured residents that the military remains committed to protecting lives and property in Kogi State.
