Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has issued a stern warning to President Bola Tinubu over rising insecurity in Nigeria, stressing the need for urgent action before April 2026 to protect political activities.
Speaking on Tuesday, Ayodele cautioned that terrorist groups are advancing plans that may target prominent figures during the upcoming election campaigns. He emphasized that the safety of politicians and citizens could be at risk if proactive measures are not implemented promptly.
“The government must end insecurity before the election; if not, they will take over the election. They are ready to attack politicians during the campaign if action isn’t taken by April,” Ayodele said. He warned that ongoing negotiations with terrorist groups may embolden them, allowing operations to expand rather than diminish, potentially disrupting election preparations and political gatherings.
Ayodele highlighted that the increasing confidence of these groups could infiltrate political environments if the nation’s security framework is not strengthened. He urged the government to enhance intelligence efforts and implement decisive strategies to stabilize affected areas, ensuring that citizens can participate in electoral processes safely.
He stressed that addressing insecurity ahead of April 2026 is crucial for maintaining order, safeguarding public figures, and allowing elections to proceed without fear or interruption.
