Some Names Being Paraded To Represent Us As Ambassadors Are Surprising, This Isn’t Leadership -Obi

Peter Obi, former Labour Party presidential candidate, has raised concerns over the ambassadorial nominations submitted by President Bola Tinubu to the Nigerian Senate. Obi described the list as a troubling reflection of declining leadership values and an endorsement of mediocrity.

In a post on his verified X account, Obi stated that some of the names on the list were shocking and unworthy of representing Nigeria internationally. He argued that the nominations indicate a government more focused on rewarding loyalty than promoting competence.

Obi further criticized the administration for prioritizing political appointments while many Nigerians continue to face insecurity, economic hardship, and social challenges. He noted that the leadership appears more invested in celebrations and self-interest than in addressing urgent national issues, including ongoing violence and the abduction of schoolchildren.

“Yes, some of the names being paraded to represent us as ambassadors globally are shocking. This is not governance. This is not leadership. And this is certainly not the Nigeria we deserve,” Obi said, highlighting what he views as a misalignment of national priorities.
