Security analyst Dickson Osajie has expressed skepticism about the military’s ability to single-handedly resolve Nigeria’s growing insecurity, emphasizing that political commitment and tackling systemic financial crimes are key to meaningful solutions.
In an interview with TVC News on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, Osajie said that the issue extends beyond individual military figures, referencing General Christopher Musa and other retired generals who may be called upon to assist. He argued that without addressing the funding networks behind criminal and terrorist groups, military operations will only offer temporary relief.
“General Musa and maybe all Generals in Nigeria I don’t think can resolve insecurity problem,” Osajie stated. “First of all, we need the political will. We have to start looking at the terrorism financiers and sponsors so that we can be able to support General Musa and the president of Nigeria. If you don’t go after these guys you are just doing surface cleansing.”
His remarks come ahead of the Senate screening of General Christopher Musa, the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, who has been nominated by President Bola Tinubu as the new Minister of Defence following the resignation of Alhaji Mohammed Badaru for health reasons. The screening is scheduled for Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
