Otti Meets Tinubu at Aso Rock After Visiting Nnamdi Kanu in Sokoto Prison

Abia State Governor Alex Otti held a private meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday, shortly after the president concluded discussions with service chiefs, according to TheCable on December 3, 2025.

The meeting comes less than 24 hours after Governor Otti visited Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), at the Sokoto Correctional Centre, where Kanu is serving a sentence following his terrorism conviction.

While the specifics of Otti’s discussion with President Tinubu were not disclosed, sources suggest it may relate to ongoing efforts to explore a political resolution for Kanu’s release. Following the court ruling, Otti had announced that he had activated a “political and diplomatic strategy” aimed at supporting Kanu.

Ferdinand Ekeoma, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, noted that Otti encouraged Kanu to remain resilient during the prison visit and indicated that consultations initiated by the governor more than two years ago had now been intensified.
