Nigerian entrepreneur Deborah James has revealed that her husband stopped coming home on weekends as agreed after she purchased a car for him to operate Uber services, leaving her alone in a newly developed area without electricity.
In an interview on the Talk-to-B podcast, James explained that the arrangement required her husband to spend weekdays in Lagos managing his Uber business and weekends in Ifo with her. Over time, he increasingly refused to return home, forcing her to remain alone in Ifo or stay in Shagamu, where her businesses operated.
To address the situation, James said she involved her husband’s uncle, who temporarily helped restore the arrangement. “He adjusted for some time, apologized, but along the line it became a norm. It’s really frustrating because I’m not the type to nag all the time. I kept everything to myself,” she said.
James noted the emotional and logistical challenges of managing a household alone, especially in a new area with no electricity. She emphasized that the repeated absence and neglect created ongoing stress, highlighting the importance of commitment and communication in relationships.
