The Terrorists Think Nigeria Is So Rich That When They Come To Nigeria, They Can Make It — Gen Musa

Minister of Defence nominee, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), has presented his security strategy during his screening at the National Assembly, emphasizing stronger inter-agency coordination, regional collaboration, and a firm stance against terrorist threats targeting Nigeria.

During the session on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, Gen. Musa highlighted the need for effective governance and multi-agency cooperation as critical to national security. He noted that agencies such as the police, civil defense, and foreign affairs all have key roles to play in safeguarding the country.

He stressed the importance of regional partnerships, pointing out that Nigeria’s security is tied to the stability of neighbouring countries like Cameroon, Chad, Niger, and Benin. “If their borders are secured, ours will be more secure; if theirs are porous, ours will be porous, and we have more to lose,” he explained.

Addressing the threat from terrorist groups, Gen. Musa warned that militants view Nigeria as a wealthy target: “The terrorists we’re dealing with think Nigeria is so rich that when they come to Nigeria, they can make it.” He pledged a zero-tolerance approach to banditry and terrorism, affirming that the armed forces will work closely with local communities to enhance security.

The nominee also highlighted the concept of localized security, insisting that involving communities is crucial in countering violent threats effectively. His proposals are intended to strengthen both national defense and grassroots security engagement across Nigeria. Your phone could be secretly spying on you.
