I won’t reveal how I got this information: Ex-Nigeria coach claims Real Madrid want Osimhen

According to a report by All Nigeria Soccer on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has revealed that Spanish giants Real Madrid are reportedly monitoring Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, with a potential move for the Nigerian international expected next summer. The development comes amid growing uncertainty surrounding Brazilian winger Vinicius Jnr’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Osimhen, who completed a permanent transfer to Galatasaray during the summer, has made a remarkable start to his season in Turkey. The Nigerian forward has already netted six goals in three UEFA Champions League matches, placing him second on the competition’s scoring chart. His form has attracted renewed interest from Europe’s top clubs, sparking speculation over a high-profile transfer.

Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jnr, meanwhile, has yet to agree on a new contract with the Spanish side, whose current deal runs until the summer of 2027. Reports have suggested rising tensions between the winger and manager Xabi Alonso, adding further uncertainty to his future at the club.

Speaking on the Oliseh Insight Podcast, Oliseh downplayed the influence of player power in the potential scenario, stressing that the club would back the manager’s position if the situation remained unresolved. He highlighted the flexibility Real Madrid would have in adjusting their squad, noting that the departure of Vinicius could allow Kylian Mbappe to revert to his natural role.

The former Juventus midfielder also confirmed that Osimhen is being considered as a possible successor for Vinicius, though he declined to disclose his sources. “And there’s a lot of talk under the ground about the possibility of Osimhen being a candidate. I am not going to tell you how I got this information, but there’s a lot of talk. Let’s see how this plays out. But when I heard it from a top personality I was happy for the young man,” Oliseh said.

A potential move to Real Madrid would make Osimhen the first Nigerian-born footballer to feature for the senior team at the Spanish giants. While other Nigerians, including Oladimeji Lawal and Mutiu Adepoju, have represented Real Madrid B, none have made appearances for the first team.
