According to a report by Daily Trust on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, a 17-year-old boy identified as Amir has been arrested in connection with the killing of his neighbor’s wife in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
The incident reportedly took place at Layin Shagon Harun, Shuwarin II, around 10:45 pm on Tuesday. The shocking act has left residents of the area in deep distress.
The Borno State Police Command confirmed the arrest, with their spokesman, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, stating that the suspect is currently in custody.
While police are investigating the case, details about the motive and circumstances surrounding the attack remain limited.
Authorities have promised to provide further information as the investigation progresses.
According to local residents, Amir allegedly scaled the neighbor’s fence after the family had gone to bed. He reportedly hid inside the house, waiting for the right moment to attack.
The suspect allegedly used a knife to stab the victim in the chest and neck, leading to her untimely death.
Following the attack, the suspect is said to have taken the victim’s phone and power bank before fleeing.
Neighbors discovered the crime and alerted authorities, prompting a swift police response that led to Amir’s arrest.
Police continue to investigate the case to determine the full sequence of events and the suspect’s motive.
He said, “He hid inside the house and waited for the right time to strike. He used a knife and stabbed her in the chest and neck. Later, it was discovered that he escaped with her phone and power bank.”
