Popular Nollywood actor and filmmaker Ajemba Stanley, widely known as Stanley Ontop, has raised serious concerns over the conduct of the recent Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) presidential election, claiming that the process was hijacked.
The AGN national election took place in Edo State on Saturday, December 6, 2025, and ended with the National Secretary, actor Abubakar Yakubu, emerging as the winner, defeating Regina Daniels’ mother, actress Rita Daniels.
Stanley Ontop expressed his disappointment with the outcome on his Instagram page, suggesting that the election was marred by unfair practices and undue influence.
“The AGN presidential election outcome is questionable,” he stated, adding that the process appeared unjust, particularly in the handling of Rita Daniels’ candidacy.
According to him, the alleged interference from a powerful individual in Abuja compromised the integrity of the election.
“I acknowledge other winners, but the presidential election outcome is questionable. It is regrettable that some delegates prioritised personal gain over association integrity.
Regina’s mum would have won Yakubu hands down, but powers in Abuja hijacked it. It’s well!! Shame on una,” Stanley wrote.
His statement underscores growing concerns among members of the Nigerian entertainment industry regarding transparency and fairness in AGN elections.
The guild, which represents actors and works to promote their rights and welfare, has in the past faced criticism for election irregularities, and Stanley Ontop’s comments add fresh scrutiny to the latest process.
