Nollywood star Tonto Dikeh has set the record straight after a video from her son’s football-themed birthday party sparked widespread online speculation.
The footage, which went viral, appeared to show her hugging a man, leading some social media users to mistakenly claim she was embracing ex-husband Olakunle Churchill. Observers also questioned whether Churchill’s current wife, actress Rosy Meurer, might be upset by the interaction.
Responding to the claims, Tonto Dikeh clarified that the man in the video is actually Churchill’s uncle. She described the narrative as inaccurate and offensive, emphasizing the strong family bonds that have supported her.
“This is completely inappropriate and inaccurate. He is Churchill’s uncle and, by extension, my uncle as well. My son was born in his home, under his care and protection. His wife, Aunty Vivian, was the one who took me to the hospital when I went into labor.
They opened their home to me for six months. In a country as demanding as America, they made sure my baby and I were cared for, feeding us, clothing us, and giving us a safe roof over our heads. They did this out of love, with no hesitation.
This narrative is deeply disrespectful to him, to me, and to our families. I would appreciate more thoughtfulness and sensitivity moving forward, please.”
The actress’s clarification not only quashes the rumors but also highlights the important role Churchill’s family played during her son’s early life.
By speaking out, Dikeh urges the public to avoid jumping to conclusions and to approach personal stories with more respect and accuracy.
