



Five persons who reportedly consumed meat suspected to be laced with poison have di£d in Takum Local Government Council in Taraba State.
Eight others are in critical condition in various medical facilities across the area.
The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, February 24.
Confirming the development on Wednesday, Feb. 25, the Taraba State Police Command said preliminary investigations indicate that the victims may have unknowingly eaten meat contaminated with a toxic substance believed to have been used for rodent control.

In a statement issued by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Victor Mshelizah, the Command disclosed that officers were swiftly deployed to the community upon receipt of the report.
The affected individuals were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention, while the remains of the deceased were evacuated for necessary procedures.
The police said a comprehensive investigation is now underway to unravel the circumstances surrounding the suspected poisoning and to determine whether foul play was involved.


The force urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious food items, sudden illnesses, or related incidents to security agencies to avert further tragedy.
Reassuring the public, the police vowed to uncover the truth behind the incident and ensure that anyone found culpable faces the full weight of the law.
