Nigerian media personality Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, widely known as Dotun, has reignited conversations about parental rights and agency accountability after publicly calling out the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) over what he described as inaction in his ongoing custody dispute.
The controversy traces back to Dotun’s highly publicized separation from his estranged wife.
Following the breakdown of their marriage, both parties became entangled in a custody battle over their two children.
According to Dotun, tensions escalated when his estranged wife allegedly relocated the children out of Nigeria without his consent, despite existing court proceedings and legal restrictions surrounding custody and access.
Dotun has maintained that there were standing court orders in place and that removing the children from Nigeria violated both judicial directives and his parental rights.
Feeling aggrieved, he reportedly petitioned NAPTIP, the federal agency responsible for addressing issues related to human trafficking and certain cross-border violations, expecting swift intervention.
However, in a strongly worded social media post, the broadcaster expressed deep frustration at what he perceived as silence from the agency. He wrote:
“You @naptifnigeria when they kidnapped my two children out of the country with no consent? Out of the jurisdiction of Nigeria completely defiling the law; even an existing contempt of court; an existing court order; when they wrote you; what did you do?
This one is Selective eye service.”
The post has since sparked intense reactions online, with supporters echoing his concerns while others call for caution until official clarifications emerge.
Dotun’s outburst underscores the emotional weight of custody disputes, especially when they cross international borders and involve legal complexities.
While NAPTIP has not publicly responded to the allegations at the time of this report, the situation highlights the delicate intersection of family law, jurisdictional authority, and enforcement mechanisms in Nigeria.
For Dotun, this is more than a legal disagreement, it is a deeply personal battle over access to his children. As the situation unfolds, many observers are watching closely to see whether there will be an official response or further legal developments in the matter.
