Nigerian singer Chike has stirred a wave of conversation online after claiming he was scammed by a woman in a business deal that never came to fruition.

According to the singer, he handed over $20,000 for what he believed was a legitimate opportunity, only to realize later that the business may not have existed at all.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Chike shared his frustration in a series of posts, warning his followers to be cautious when dealing with individuals who appear trustworthy online.

He described the situation as a stark reminder of how some people portray themselves as entrepreneurs while actually living off other people’s money.

“Chioma Nneoma Ochibili, so you are a thief? That’s how they do. They will tell you they are doing certain business. Her business is to survive on your money. $50,000 in the air. $20,000 of my hard earned money I didn’t see either.

How do I find out this late that I’m just another person she has duped. Even me I de laugh myself.”

Curious followers asked Chike about the type of business involved.

He clarified that the specifics of the deal were secondary; the main issue, he insisted, is that the business itself was nonexistent, which constitutes fraud.

Chike also revealed that he has begun taking steps to recover his money, highlighting the importance of vigilance in online business transactions. His posts resonated with fans, many of whom shared similar experiences or praised him for speaking out publicly.

As of now, the woman in question has not responded to the allegations, leaving the matter unresolved in the public eye.

Chike’s candid account serves as both a personal warning and a broader lesson: before investing money, even in seemingly legitimate opportunities, confirm the credibility of the person or business involved.

The story underscores the growing concern over online scams targeting both public figures and everyday social media users, reminding everyone to stay alert and protect their hard-earned money.
