After months of preparation and an ambitious ride spanning multiple countries, Nigerian cyclist Emmi has announced the end of his “Nigeria to USA on a Bicycle” project due to visa denials.

Emmi returned to Nigeria 68 days ago with the hope of securing visas that would allow him to continue his journey across Europe and North America.

On January 29, he attended his Schengen visa interview, eagerly anticipating the chance to extend his journey through Europe.

However, after 29 long days of waiting, the application was denied, marking the first major setback in his mission.

Refusing to give up, Emmi placed his remaining hope on securing a U.S. visa. Unfortunately, on March 18, that effort also ended in disappointment when his application was rejected.

In reflecting on the experience, Emmi shared his feelings in a heartfelt statement:

“It is 68 days since I returned to Nigeria to fix my Schengen and USA visas. On January 29th, I went for my Schengen interview, and after 29 long days of waiting, it was denied. I put my last hope on The US visa. On March 18, my US visa also got denied.”

Despite the setbacks, Emmi remains determined to return stronger.

He expressed gratitude to the supporters who followed his journey and the warmth he experienced across the 12 countries he traversed from Nigeria to Mauritania:

“With a very heavy heart, I have to say it: The ‘Nigeria to USA on a Bicycle’ project has come to an end. I will come back stronger. From Nigeria to Mauritania, across 12 countries, I felt love… Real love and that’s why this hurts even more. Thank you Family.”

Emmi’s journey had captured international attention for its spirit of endurance, adventure, and cross-cultural connection.

While visa restrictions have temporarily halted his mission, his story continues to inspire many aspiring adventurers and cyclists. Fans now await his next move, confident that his determination will see him back on the road soon.
