The Nigerian film My Kind of Perfect is a heartfelt romantic story that explores love, faith, and honesty in a simple but relatable way. It stars Miwa Olorunfemi and Ayoola Ayolola, who bring life to a story about expectations and real connection.

The movie follows Audrey, a calm and reserved librarian who also dreams of becoming a successful writer.

After facing disappointment in her past relationships, she decides to take a different approach to love. Audrey begins a 15-day journaling exercise where she writes down everything she wants in her ideal partner.

She carefully lists his qualities, from his appearance to his behavior, and most importantly, his love for books. She believes that by writing it down with faith, she can attract the right man into her life.

Not long after starting this journey, Audrey meets Morris, a wealthy and confident publisher. Their meeting feels natural and almost like destiny.

However, unknown to Audrey, she had misplaced her journal during a library event, and it ends up in Morris’s possession. After reading it, Morris realizes that the journal belongs to her, but instead of returning it, he keeps it.

Morris becomes deeply interested in Audrey and decides to use the journal as a guide to win her over. Even though he is not naturally the kind of man Audrey described especially since he is not a fan of reading—he begins to act like her “perfect man.”

He copies the traits she wrote down, behaves in ways she would admire, and says the right things to make her happy. While his feelings for Audrey are real, his actions are influenced by what he learned from her private thoughts.

As their relationship grows, everything seems perfect on the surface. However, the truth is eventually revealed, and Audrey discovers that Morris had been using her journal all along.

She feels hurt, betrayed, and confused. To her, it seems like the relationship was built on lies rather than genuine connection. This leads to a painful confrontation between them.

Morris later admits his mistake and explains that although the journal helped him understand her, his feelings were never fake.

He also shares how her words inspired him and made him reflect on himself. Audrey’s close friend encourages her to see that while Morris was wrong, his intentions were not entirely bad.

In the end, Audrey chooses to forgive Morris. The story closes on a hopeful note, showing that love is not about perfection but about honesty, growth, and understanding.

It also reminds viewers that while you can wish for the kind of partner you want, it is truth and openness that truly make a relationship last.
