“I’m not who they said I am” — Actor, Baba Ijesha speaks on prison experience and case

Nollywood actor Baba Ijesha has spoken publicly for the first time since his release from prison, sharing his account of the events that led to his conviction.

In an interview on Talk to B hosted by Abiola Adebayo, he said he is not the person many people believe him to be.

According to him, the situation began after he declined a personal introduction arranged by comedian Princess (Damilola Adekoya), which he described as the starting point of the issues that followed. He also claimed the situation was a setup.

He further alleged that some individuals later visited him in prison to apologise, saying they had been promised money to testify against him.

Speaking on actress Iyabo Ojo, he expressed disappointment over her reaction to the case. He stated that he never asked her out at any point and added that she had trusted him with her children in the past.

“What hurt me about Iyabo Ojo is that she has put her children in my care when they were younger… Iyabo is my product, and I can’t ruin her,” he said.

The actor was convicted in 2022 over the assault of Princess’s foster daughter and served his sentence before regaining freedom in 2025.

He also spoke about his time in prison and appreciated those who supported him during the period.
