Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been charged with improper conduct towards a fourth official after being sent off against Bournemouth, the Football Association (FA) has confirmed.
Maguire was shown a red card for pushing Bournemouth forward Evanilson to the ground in the penalty area during their last match.
Referee Stuart Attwell pointed to the spot, despite waving away a similar challenge on Amad in the Bournemouth box earlier in the game.
The England defender protested the decision to Attwell before speaking to the fourth official as he departed the pitch.
The FA has now charged Maguire with allegedly acting in an improper manner towards the fourth official.
The FA released a statement saying: “Harry Maguire has been charged after being sent off in the 78th minute of Man Utd’s Premier League match against Bournemouth on March 20.
“It’s alleged that the defender acted in an improper manner and/or abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards the fourth official following his dismissal.
“Harry Maguire has until April 2 to provide a response.”
