A middle school in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey, became the site of a devastating shooting on Wednesday, April 15 leaving nine people dead and 13 others injured.
This tragedy represents the second school shooting to strike Turkey within a 48-hour window, a staggering statistic for a nation where such violence has historically been rare.
Among the deceased is at least one teacher, according to reports from Interior Ministry officials and Governor Mukerrem Unluer. The assailant, identified as a student at the school, reportedly took his own life at the scene following the attack.

The situation remains critical for several survivors, with four of the 13 injured victims currently undergoing surgery. In response to the violence, the Turkish Justice Ministry has assigned seven prosecutors to the case and implemented a strict broadcast ban on coverage to ensure the integrity of the investigation is maintained.
This follows a similar incident on Tuesday involving a former student who wounded 16 people before committing suicide. Justice Minister Akin Gurlek emphasized the gravity of these back-to-back tragedies, stating that a dedicated team is working to uncover potential links between the attacks and address any underlying systemic issues contributing to this sudden surge in violence.
