In a recent statement via his official X account, former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has criticized telecommunications company MTN Nigeria over what he described as poor network performance during rainfall.
”When it rains, even lightly, in Nigeria @MTNNG network collapses, data gone, airtime useless. Are your fiber optic cables made of tissue paper? Nigerians deserve better. #AACOURPARTY #MTNISDATATHIEF #OCCUPYMTN,” he wrote.
In his post, Sowore expressed frustration about frequent service disruptions experienced by users and claimed that even light rain often leads to network failure, leaving customers without access to data services and making airtime unusable.
The activist questioned the durability of the company’s infrastructure, suggesting that the repeated outages point to deeper technical or maintenance issues and argued that Nigerians rely heavily on stable telecommunications services for business, communication, and daily activities, and should not face such disruptions.
Sowore stated that the problem appears to be widespread, affecting many subscribers across different locations and called for improved service delivery and urged the company to invest in stronger and more reliable systems that can withstand weather conditions. Read_More…
