A High Court sitting in Effurun, Delta State has discharged and acquitted two young boys accused of r@pe.
The defendants were arrested and arraigned on December 9, 2025. The duo was granted bail the same day.
Their lawyer, Agba Abraham, who disclosed this in a Facebook post said the court discharged the defendants on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, citing lack of diligent prosecution by the Prosecution.
“Earlier today these two young boys who were accused of r@pe and charged to Effurun High Court 2 on Motion Exparte by the Nigerian Police Force, Warri Area Command, where discharged today, 21st April 2026 on the ground of lack of diligence Prosecution by the Prosecution,” he wrote.
“The Defendants where charged to Effurun High Court 2 on the 9th December, 2025 on Motion Exparte, however the Court granted the Defendants bail same day upon my opposition on section 358 ACJL, Delta State and Section 204 sub (a) & (b) Delta State Child Rights Law, 2008 (As Amended 2024).
“These both can now enjoy their freedom and be a good citizens of our beloved Country Nigeria.”
