In a recent statement via his official X account, investigative journalist David Hundeyin has raised concerns over Peter Obi’s unclear position on the ongoing opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Hundeyin said Obi is becoming a major obstacle to a united opposition front.
He stressed that Obi’s refusal to publicly declare his plans for the 2027 election is creating confusion among opposition figures and supporters.
“I’ll also say this publicly for everyone to see exactly where I stand on the issue of 2027.
P.O. is the single biggest roadblock to mounting a challenge that has any chance of succeeding in 2027. The simple reason is that he has refused to declare what he wants to do and where he stands. This is not a fucking game,” Hundeyin wrote.
According to Hundeyin, no one currently knows if Obi plans to run independently again, as he did in 2023, or if he intends to join forces with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and others trying to unseat President Bola Tinubu.
Hundeyin suggested that not even Obi’s close associates are sure of his political direction.
He warned that if Obi continues to delay a clear decision, the opposition may once again face a divided front, just like in the last election.
This, he believes, could give Tinubu an easy path to re-election.
Hundeyin stated that the uncertainty is damaging efforts to form a strong and united coalition.
He said the stakes are too high for any one person’s indecision to ruin the collective ambition of many Nigerians hoping for change in 2027.
