Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has once again stirred political waters with a blunt message about the future of Labour Party leader Peter Obi and the Southeast’s political prospects. According to the outspoken cleric, Obi’s presidential ambition is doomed not because of external resistance but due to deep-seated disunity within his own ethnic group.
“The Igbos will become enemy to themselves,” Ayodele said during a prophetic address. “Nobody will give Peter Obi president. Even if you bring 10 billions of Obi, they will only make noise.”
Ayodele’s message is a clear warning that the Southeast’s long-standing quest for Nigeria’s presidency will remain unattainable unless they first address internal conflicts and betrayal among their own political elite. He accused Igbo leaders of sabotaging one another instead of forming a united political front.
“The problem is not the North, not the West—it’s within,” he declared. “They will betray themselves again, just like before.”
The prophet stressed that no amount of popularity or financial power can replace strategic alliances and internal cohesion. “You can produce a thousand Obis, even with all the noise and online support. If your house is not in order, nothing will change,” he warned.
Ayodele also noted that Nigeria’s presidency is never handed out based on sentiments or agitation, but through calculated political networking and unity across regions. “Nobody gives you power because you shout loudest,” he said. “It’s about negotiation, structure, and trust. Right now, the Southeast lacks those in the national space.”
With the 2027 election cycle already in early motion, Ayodele’s prophecy adds to a growing chorus of voices urging Peter Obi and other Southeast leaders to rethink their strategy. The message is clear: without unity and meaningful political cooperation, the dream of an Igbo presidency may remain just that—a dream.
