Hausas Are The Most Populous In Nigeria; You Hardly Find A Hausa Man In Political Position—Dankande

According to a report by Channels TV, on Thursday March 26, 2026, Jibril Dankande, the Chairman of the Voice of Indigenous Hausa, has raised concerns regarding what he describes as a significant disparity between the population size of the Hausa people and their representation in Nigeria’s top political tiers.

Speaking on the program Sunrise Daily, Dankande highlighted that while the Hausa remain a dominant demographic force within the country, this numerical strength is not reflected in the current political landscape.

“The Hausa people are the ones who are the most populous ethnic group in Nigeria,” Dankande stated during the broadcast.

He further argued that a close examination of those holding key government offices reveals a lack of indigenous Hausa presence, suggesting a shift in the traditional power dynamics of the nation.

“But we look at the people that are occupying the political positions, you will see that you can hardly find a Hausa man among them,” he added.
