The Ondo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a man who is on the run after allegedly killing his wife, Mrs Christianah Kutelu, in Ikare-Akoko, Akoko North-East Local Government Area of the State.
The woman, who worked at a school for children with special needs, died on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
It was gathered that her death is being treated as a possible case of domestic violence.
According to reports, the husband took her body to the morgue after the incident and then fleed to an unknown location.
Family members raised alarm and informed the police, suspecting that the husband may be connected to her death.
Ondo police spokesperson, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, confirmed the incident, saying an investigation has started.
“The Ondo State Police Command has commenced an investigation into a suspected m8rder case reported at the Ikare Division, involving the d3ath of Mrs Christianah Kutelu, aged 51,” the PPRO said.
“The case was reported by a family member who alleged that the deceased’s husband might have been involved in acts of domestic violence leading to her d3ath.
“The husband is currently at large, and efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend him.
“The corpse has been deposited in the hospital morgue for an autopsy to ascertain the cause of d3ath.”
The police assured the public that the case will be properly investigated and justice will be done.
