Former Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson, said the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is a united party with no internal disputes or court cases.
He also described the party as one of the most stable and fastest-growing political groups in the country.
Dickson made these remarks on Sunday while receiving former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, and former Kano State governor, Musa Kwankwaso, into the NDC.
Speaking during the event, he welcomed them on behalf of the party’s leadership and members across Nigeria, noting that within just five months, the party had gained strong support despite early doubts.
“On behalf of the leaders of our party and on behalf of the teeming members of our party, well-meaning Nigerians from all over our country, who in the five months have defied all odds and conquered all doubts, and invested their trust and confidence in the dream and vision of this party.
“On behalf of all of them, I thank you all, and I welcome you all, especially to the NDC and my humble home,” he said.
Dickson said the NDC, though still new, is prepared to to “box above its weight”.
“I welcome you to Nigeria’s fastest-growing political party. I welcome you all to Nigeria’s most stable political party.
According to him, the party stands out for its unity, lack of internal divisions, and absence of legal battles.
“I welcome you all to a party that has no faction, to a party that has no litigation whatsoever. I also want to welcome you all to a party that does not know what is called status quo ante bellum,” the senator said.
Dickson added that Obi and Kwankwaso are experienced figures, and the party would soon outline the next steps and formal processes.
In his remarks, Obi urged the Federal Government not to interfere in the affairs of opposition parties or create unnecessary tension within them.
He called for a political environment where democracy can thrive without outside pressure.
Kwankwaso, on his part, encouraged Nigerians to join the NDC, stating that his supporters had already begun registering with the party.
