Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has responded to critics who argue that his inability to manage internal party crises disqualifies him from leading Nigeria.
Speaking on Arise TV, Obi said, “I’ve heard people say, ‘If you can’t control your own house, if you can’t control your own party, you can’t control the country.’ No. When those problems are externally instigated, supervised, and controlled especially in a transactional country like Nigeria, where everyone can potentially be bought over with money, it is difficult for any opposition leader to make waves. And that is exactly what I am fighting. And there are a number of people with me who are fighting the same cause. We must dismantle the criminality that exists today,” he said.
Obi argued that the turmoil within the ADC and other opposition parties is not the product of poor leadership but the result of deliberate and heavily funded external interference designed to destabilise and destroy them from within.
