Coalition: Some Of Them Brought Boko Haram, Kidnappers Into Nigeria – Governor Okpebholo

Governor Monday Okpebholo has accused key opposition leaders involved in the newly formed political coalition of being responsible for Nigeria’s economic woes and security challenges. He claimed some of them sold off national assets, while others played a role in introducing Boko Haram kidnappers into the country.

According to a video posted by Channels Television, the governor made this statement during a defection event at Uromi in the Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, where members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including a federal lawmaker, officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Okpebholo stated that many of the opposition figures once held high-ranking offices but failed to deliver democratic dividends. He urged the people of Esanland to rally behind the Tinubu-led leadership and dismissed the credibility of the opposition coalition, which he said lacks the capacity.

He expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and attributed his administration’s ongoing developmental strides in Edo State to federal support.

In his words, “There are some people that were senate president for many years; they could not take the road to their community.”

“There were some people that sold Nigerian assets. There are also some people that brought Boko Haram kidnappers into Nigeria. They use their mouth to say, yes, we brought them in.”

“Are these the kind of people that we need in this country? Today they said they are coming together; they want to form one party. Today they will say it’s SDP. Tomorrow they will say it’s ADC. Tomorrow they will say it’s APGA. Where are they? They don’t have capacity.”

“Let us follow the one that knows the road. Asiwaju is doing well for Nigeria. We are not campaigning, but we are telling our people the truth.”

“Asiwaju has done well. Everything you see I’m doing in Edo today, who is giving me money? Who is giving me money? So now that we know this, 2027 is guaranteed.”
