Beautiful Photos of University Student Killed by Lover After Refusing to Spend the Night With Him

A 22-year-old law student has died under circumstances that have sparked a murder investigation after an alleged dispute with her boyfriend over where she would spend the night following a night out.

According to police reports and court documents, the 25-year-old suspect has been remanded to Luzira Prison in Uganda after being charged with the murder of his girlfriend, a final-year law student at Uganda Christian University (UCU), Bridget Arikiriza.

The court heard that the two had spent the evening of April 8 at a bar in Mukono town. Tensions allegedly arose later when Arikiriza declined to go home with her boyfriend and instead opted not to spend the night at his residence.

Prosecutors allege that the suspect became agitated and forced the victim into his vehicle, a Toyota Premio. He is then said to have contacted a bar worker, claiming she had been involved in a road accident along the Katosi road.

He later transferred her to another vehicle, a Toyota Mark X, where they were reportedly joined by acquaintances before rushing her to Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital. She was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police say inconsistencies in the suspect’s account of events raised suspicion. Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Recheal Kawala stated that investigations revealed the victim had sustained injuries prior to arriving at the hospital, contradicting the initial claim of a road accident.

The suspect was arrested and has since been remanded as investigations continue.

The case has drawn attention in Uganda, coming amid other recent incidents involving students at Uganda Christian University that have also made headlines.
