In a recent statement via his official Facebook account, former Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye, has criticized former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, questioning his ability to handle Nigeria’s political and governance challenges.
”Peter Obi excused himself from tough situation. If he can not face party tribulations and crisis, how does he intend to handle Nigeria,? Because Nigeria wahala pass ADC problems oooo,” Senator Dino Melaye wrote.
In his post, Melaye argued that Obi has avoided difficult political situations, especially internal party struggles, he suggested that leadership in Nigeria requires the ability to face pressure, crises, and complex political battles.
According to Melaye, managing Nigeria is far more demanding than dealing with party-level disagreements, he said anyone seeking to lead the country must show strength and resilience in challenging environments.
The former lawmaker claimed that Obi has benefited from political opportunities without going through tough competitive processes, he pointed to Obi’s past political journey, including his time in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), where he served as governor of Anambra State, and his role as running mate to Atiku Abubakar under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019.
Melaye further argued that Obi’s emergence as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (Nigeria) in 2023 also did not follow what he described as a difficult internal contest, based on this, he questioned Obi’s readiness to handle what he called the tough realities of Nigerian politics.
He made fresh claims about Obi’s movement between political parties, suggesting that such decisions were influenced by the search for favourable conditions, in addition, Melaye alleged links between certain political platforms and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), though he did not provide evidence for the claim
