An interview with a correspondent from Africa Independent Television (AIT) revealed the story of a Nigerian girl who was assaulted multiple times by her biological father. The girl was 19 years old. The abuse, she said, started when she was seven years old, and her father would frequently become aggressive while harassing her.
She expressed her need for a safe haven where she could rest without worrying about being molested. Every time I stand in his way, he retaliates by beating me and leaving me with scars. My mother told me I was naive because I was a youngster when I told her about it.
She claimed that her mother tried to call her father’s relatives when she was eight years old because she had caught him assaulting her, but she eventually forgave him when he pleaded with her, claiming that she wanted to safeguard the marriage.
Claiming that her mother had asked if the teen had been part in “planning” with her spouse, the adolescent asked why her mother had never supported her after she reported the abuse.
She was shocked by the comment and wanted to know how an adult could accuse a seven-year-old of plotting such a crime. She elaborated by saying that the ordeal drove her to the brink of despair, to the point where she thought she couldn’t bear the anguish any more.
