In a dramatic turn of events for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the former National Youth Leader of the party’s anti-Tinubu coalition, Honorable Sultan Ahmed Bello, has issued a public apology for his role in the internal strife currently paralyzing the organization.

He also acknowledged that his past actions were detrimental to the democratic process, saying “What I did was wrong, and I fully acknowledge that.”
The former youth leader also framed his decision to speak out as a necessary step toward personal growth and political accountability, revealing that his previous involvement with the faction led by Nafi’u Bala Gombe was a mistake he is now determined to rectify, vowing never again to participate in efforts that undermine the party’s institutional progress.
Honorable Sultan Ahmed Bello went further to disclosed that he had already sought private counsel from leaders of the ADC including high-profile political figures such as the former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President, Senator David Mark, the former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, and the former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, who he claims accepted his apology and urged him to prioritize truth and party unity.
He also underscored the significant stakes of the ADC’s internal power struggle and positioned his reconciliation as a move endorsed by the broader opposition establishment.
Bello also formally announced his alignment with the faction led by Senator David Mark, dismissing the legitimacy of his former ally, Nafi’u Bala Gombe, asserting that Gombe had already resigned from his position as Deputy National Chairman.
He also characterized the Mark-led faction as the only legitimate and truthful path forward, signaling a major shift in the balance of power within the ADC’s anti-Tinubu coalition.
