Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez has unveiled his squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
As part of their preparations, Portugal will play a series of friendly matches, including a notable clash against Nigeria on June 10 at the Dr Magalhães Pessoa Stadium.
Team captain Cristiano Ronaldo, who is also the country’s all-time top scorer, will lead the squad made up of both seasoned players and rising talents featuring in top European leagues.
Nigeria’s coach Eric Chelle has already indicated that he plans to field a strong team for the friendly as the Super Eagles step up their build-up for upcoming competitions.
Portugal’s World Cup squad:
Goalkeepers: Diogo Costa, José Sá, Rui Silva, Ricardo Velho.
Defenders: Diogo Dalot, Matheus Nunes, Nelson Semedo, João Cancelo, Nuno Mendes, Gonçalo Inácio, Renato Veiga, Rúben Dias, Tomás Araújo.
Midfielders: Rúben Neves, Samuel Costa, João Neves, Vitinha, Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva.
Forwards: João Félix, Francisco Trincão, Francisco Conceição, Pedro Neto, Rafael Leão, Gonçalo Guedes, Gonçalo Ramos, Cristiano Ronaldo.
At the World Cup, Portugal will compete in Group K alongside DR Congo, Uzbekistan, and Colombia, as they aim to go far in the tournament.
