In a bold response to recent Iranian missile attacks, Canadian-Israeli philanthropist and businessman Sylvan Adams announced a major new construction project in Beersheba during an address to the Israeli cabinet.
The initiative transforms a site of attack into a symbol of resilience, healing, and progress. Adams declared,
“Our answer to Iran is to build back bigger and better. On the very place where missiles fell, we will build a beacon of healing, progress, and peace. We choose life. We choose excellence. We answer destruction with construction, and hatred with compassion.”
The project, coming just days after missiles struck the Negev region, is part of a broader vision to advance Israel’s technological, healthcare, and educational sectors. Adams linked the initiative to the legacy of Israel’s founding father, David Ben-Gurion, who championed the development of the Negev.
“David Ben-Gurion dreamed of a flourishing Negev. Now we are helping to make that dream a reality, in labs and lecture halls, in hospital wards and emergency rooms,” Adams said.
The government has expressed strong support for the project, viewing it as a tangible statement of national unity and defiance against external threats. While specific details regarding the timeline and funding remain undisclosed, the announcement has already been celebrated as a powerful example of turning adversity into progress.
“Together, we show that the way we defeat those who wish us harm is by building a stronger, more advanced, more united Israel,” Adams concluded.
