Stephanie Promise Ikedieze, the wife of Nollywood actor Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as Aki, recently took a bold step to address one of the everyday challenges faced by commuters in Ikeja, Lagos.

Frustrated by the state of a local road riddled with potholes, she decided to take action herself, bringing cement and gravel to patch the damaged surfaces.

In a video shared publicly, Stephanie was seen arriving at the site with her car boot full of repair materials.

Accompanied by a cameraman, she got straight to work, carefully filling the potholes one after another.

She explained that her intention was to make the road safer and more navigable for drivers who use it daily.

“This is Ikeja. I want to fill up some of the potholes we have here on the street, just me and my cameraman,” she said, demonstrating her hands-on approach.

Stephanie’s initiative highlights a rare example of civic responsibility from a private citizen, especially in a context where public infrastructure challenges are often left unaddressed for long periods.

While her efforts were clearly well-meaning, there are questions about whether such activities can be carried out on public roads without authorization.

Using cement and gravel on municipal streets may attract the attention of local authorities, who typically regulate road maintenance to ensure safety standards are met.

Despite this, the act itself reflects a proactive mindset someone stepping up to solve a problem rather than waiting for external action.

Stephanie’s decision to personally engage with the challenge of potholes underscores the importance of community involvement and the role individuals can play in improving everyday life.

Whether this inspires similar acts from others remains to be seen, but it certainly adds a new dimension to how citizens can contribute to local infrastructure maintenance.
