The Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Dr. Stephen Amoah, has asserted that the John Mahama administration is reaping the benefits of the robust economic groundwork established by the prior Akufo-Addo government.
Speaking before the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement on Thursday, November 13, Dr. Amoah remarked that the current government cannot take credit for the economic situation, as it has not yet executed any substantial policy changes.
“The economy is doing well, but the NDC government and this whole executive body have done virtually nothing about the economy. They haven’t done anything. What have they done?” he stated.
Dr. Amoah, who held the position of Deputy Finance Minister during the Akufo-Addo administration, further noted that the current government inherited a well-resourced and stable economy.
“They are not underperforming their benchmark, but they are still in the preparatory stage. You can’t use six months just to turn things around. I’m not saying they are not doing well or they are doing well, but they should be honest with Ghanaians.
“The performance of the economy today has virtually nothing to do with the NDC government. What we’re experiencing today is as a result of the prudent economic management of the previous administration,” he added.
