A wave of relief swept through Tundun Maza village in Niger State after 51 children abducted from a local Catholic school were located and reunited with their families. The development, confirmed by security officials, brought an emotional end to days of anxiety for parents who had been waiting for any sign of their missing children.
According to Premium Times, families gathered anxiously at the school grounds as security personnel announced that most of the abducted pupils had been found following a coordinated search operation. Witnesses described scenes of tears, prayers, and gratitude as children ran into the arms of parents who had kept vigil since the incident.
One mother, overwhelmed with emotion, said, “All we wanted was to see our children again,” reflecting the sentiment shared by many in the community. Security agencies noted that a few pupils may still be unaccounted for, and search efforts remain active to ensure every child is safely recovered.
Authorities have promised strengthened patrols and improved intelligence sharing to prevent similar attacks in the region. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commended the rescue teams for their bravery and restated the government’s commitment to the safety of Nigerian children.
