Anyanwu-Led PDP Faction Suspends Acting Chairman Damagum, Others

According to our report, the internal war rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a fresh twist as a faction led by Senator Samuel Anyanwu announced the suspension of the party’s Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, and other top officials.

In a statement released on Saturday, November 1, 2025, and cited by Channels Television, Anyanwu accused Damagum of incompetence, financial mismanagement, and working against the unity of the party. Also suspended were National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba and Deputy National Chairman (South) Taofeek Arapaja.

All suspended officials, according to Anyanwu, have been referred to the party’s disciplinary committee for further action.

Interestingly, this move came just hours after Ologunagba announced Anyanwu’s own suspension, along with other key members, deepening the leadership tussle that has now split the PDP’s National Working Committee into rival camps.

The power struggle follows a recent court ruling that halted the PDP’s national convention, sparking confusion over who truly controls the party’s leadership structure.

As things stand, the opposition party appears locked in a fierce internal battle — one that could shape its future ahead of the coming elections.
