Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, recently opened up about the challenges he faced with his father while chasing his dream of becoming a musician.
In an interview on Kortyeo, Asake recalled his early years and how close he once was with his father. However, when he made the decision to fully commit to music, his father did not approve. The tension between them eventually pushed Asake to make a life-changing decision at a very young age.
“The father who gave birth to me, he’s more stubborn than I am. So I couldn’t look him in the face,” Asake said, reflecting on the difficulty of confronting his father at that time. Despite the disagreement, the young singer remained determined to follow his passion.
At just 15 years old, he left home to pursue his musical dreams, fully aware of the challenges that lay ahead. “We were close when I was younger, but I came to a point when I wanted to leave home to do what I am doing now, but my father said no.
But I just took off regardless. I was 15 then, focused on where I was going. And there was nothing anybody could tell me,” he added.
Even with the early conflicts, Asake emphasized that his love and respect for his father never diminished. He shared that no matter the circumstances, his father will always hold a special place in his heart. “The love I have for my father is the same as the love I have for my mother. Even if he points a gun at me, he will still be my father,” he said.
Asake’s story offers a candid glimpse into the sacrifices and tough choices that often accompany following a dream. It also underscores the enduring bond between parent and child, even when disagreements arise over life decisions.
Through his journey, the singer demonstrates how determination, focus, and respect for family can coexist, shaping him into the artist he is today.
