According to a NewsVista reporter, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has taken a direct jab at his longtime rival, Rotimi Amaechi, over his alignment with the ADC-led coalition seeking to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Speaking during the commissioning of key road projects in Gwagwalada on Friday, July 4, Wike dismissed Amaechi’s recent declaration that he’s ready to govern for just one term if elected president.
“Because you’ve left office, you’re angry. You want to come back? You won’t come back!” Wike fired, drawing applause from supporters.
Amaechi, a former minister under Buhari and ex-governor of Rivers State, had earlier told Channels TV that he would only seek a single term in office if given a chance to return to Aso Rock via the Atiku-backed coalition.
But Wike, who succeeded Amaechi as Rivers governor, isn’t buying it. He mocked the coalition’s ambition, insisting that neither Amaechi nor his allies would reclaim power from Tinubu’s camp.
The brewing political rivalry comes as the Atiku-Abubakar coalition officially adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform for the 2027 general election, positioning it as a united front against the APC.
With both Wike and Amaechi holding deep political roots in Rivers State, this clash adds a fiery twist to the battle for 2027 — and the drama is far from over.
