The Berom Young Warriors (BYW) have issued a stern warning to the United Plateau Muslims (UPM), stating the Muslim organisation will be held accountable if Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo comes to harm. The development was reported by DAILY Post on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
The warning follows an earlier UPM statement accusing Rev. Dachomo, Barkin Ladi regional chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), of portraying Muslims and Fulani people as the main perpetrators of violence in Plateau State. UPM alleged that the clergyman’s pronouncements, including claims of ongoing attacks against Christians, were inflammatory and one-sided.
BYW responded strongly, accusing UPM of spreading falsehoods intended to justify attacks on vulnerable communities and target the pastor. Peter Jang, BYW’s Director of Press, said the youth group “has the capacity to respond” and would defend local communities and their leaders if necessary.
The exchange reflects long-standing tensions in Plateau State, where disputes over land, identity, and communal violence have fueled cycles of retaliation. Civic leaders and human rights advocates continue to call for restraint and thorough investigations to prevent further escalation.
