Public affairs analyst Jude Ojo, who discussed the bishop’s statement, said Kukah’s position directly counters foreign narratives portraying Nigeria as a nation waging war against Christians.
Ojo explained that Bishop Kukah, known for his blunt honesty and national influence, clarified that Nigeria’s insecurity affects everyone — Christians, Muslims, and others alike. According to him, labeling the crisis as “Christian genocide” only fuels more division among citizens.
He added that the bishop’s intervention was not to downplay the pain of victims, but to correct misinformation and promote unity in a country already burdened by terrorism and communal conflicts.
