Donald Trump is facing backlash after comments targeting Gavin Newsom, with Newsom’s wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, publicly condemning the remarks.
A spokesperson for the White House, Davis Ingle, told TMZ: “President Trump is right. Gavin Newscum is the worst governor in America, and he also may be the dumbest.”
Responding in a video posted on Instagram, Jennifer Newsom criticised Trump’s comments, particularly remarks perceived to mock learning differences. She said learning challenges do not define a person’s ability, adding that mocking them reflects poorly on the individual making such remarks.
Jennifer stated that individuals with learning differences often work harder to prove themselves, before turning her criticism directly toward Trump, arguing that his behaviour raises questions about his own fitness.
She also criticised the Republican Party, accusing it of “normalizing this vile specimen of a human being.” The exchange followed comments made by Trump at the White House, where he described Newsom as “low IQ” and said: “I’m all for people with learning disabilities, but not for my president.”
He added: “Everything about him is dumb.” The remarks have intensified the ongoing political tensions between Trump and Newsom, who have frequently clashed over policy and leadership issues.
