Charles Soludo has begun his second term as governor of Anambra State after taking the oath of office on Tuesday.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the newly refurbished Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the state capital. His deputy, Onyeka Ibezim, was also sworn in at the event.
Several top political figures attended the ceremony, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, as well as former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku.
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and other state governors were also present.
Soludo secured a second term after winning the November 8, 2025 governorship election, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He scored 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who got 99,445 votes.
Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) finished third with 37,753 votes.
In total, 16 candidates contested the election. Out of 2,788,864 registered voters in the state, 598,229 were accredited, while 595,298 votes were cast.
The electoral body also recorded 11,244 invalid votes across the 21 local government areas.
Charles Soludo, who ran under the All Progressives Grand Alliance, won in all 21 local government areas, securing a decisive victory.
