The Federal High Court in Kaduna has adjourned the corruption case involving former state Governor Nasir El-Rufai to Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
El-Rufai appeared before the court on Tuesday for the continuation of the case filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
During the proceedings, his lawyer, Ukpon Akpan, submitted an application asking the trial judge, Justice Rilwan Aikawa, to step away from the case over claims of possible bias and an existing petition against him.
However, the defence team later returned with another application seeking to withdraw the same request.
The court was unable to move ahead with the planned bail hearing because the prosecution had only just filed its counter-affidavit in response to El-Rufai’s bail request.
Following the development, Justice Aikawa adjourned the matter to Wednesday, April 1, 2026, when the court is expected to hear the bail application.
