Dapper Live, a subsidiary of the Dapper Group, has officially announced its inaugural concert, ‘Trench Symphony,’ a groundbreaking event set to fuse the vibrant energy of Afrobeats with the rich heritage of Fuji music through a full live orchestra. The concert, part of the much-anticipated ‘Detty December’ festivities, is scheduled to take place on December 16 at the Balmoral Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, and is poised to offer a truly unique experience for music lovers.
Touted as Nigeria’s first full-orchestra concert dedicated to blending Afrobeats and Fuji, ‘Trench Symphony’ seeks to unite fans across generations and cultural backgrounds, delivering a live music experience unlike anything the country has seen before. By merging contemporary and traditional sounds, the event promises to create a powerful musical dialogue that resonates with both older and younger audiences.
The concert lineup features some of Nigeria’s most exciting Afrobeats stars, including TML Vibez, Lasmid, Cazulee, T.I Blaze, Rybeena, BhadBoi OML, Dwillsharmony, and Kashcoming, who will perform alongside legendary Fuji music icons Saheed Osupa and KS1 Malaika. This unique collaboration between modern Afrobeats performers and Fuji veterans is expected to produce a one-of-a-kind musical experience that bridges cultural divides and celebrates the diversity of Nigerian sound.
Speaking on the vision behind the event, Damilola Akinwunmi, CEO of the Dapper Group, described ‘Trench Symphony’ as a game-changer for live music in Nigeria. “Trench Symphony was created to bridge the gap between the streets and the stage, between culturally rich sounds like Fuji and the vibrant pulse of Afrobeats. This edition continues that journey, celebrating music that unites generations and backgrounds,” he said.
He further emphasized the event’s significance in the context of Lagos’ festive season, which traditionally draws both locals and diaspora returnees. “As Lagos prepares for the festive season, which attracts visitors and diaspora returnees, ‘Trench Symphony’ aims to be a highlight of the celebrations,” Akinwunmi added. “The event promises a memorable night celebrating Nigerian sound, culture, and the spirit of Detty December.”
The concert is designed not just as a showcase of talent, but also as a cultural bridge, offering fans an opportunity to experience the evolution of Nigerian music firsthand. By pairing the pulsating beats of Afrobeats with the rhythmic traditions of Fuji music through a live orchestra, ‘Trench Symphony’ aims to present a sonic experience that is both nostalgic and contemporary, honoring the past while celebrating the present.
This event also signals a growing trend in the Nigerian live music scene, where innovation and genre fusion are increasingly used to create immersive experiences for audiences. By integrating orchestral arrangements with popular music, Dapper Live hopes to elevate the standards of live performances in Nigeria and inspire other organizers to explore creative formats.
With its ambitious concept, star-studded lineup, and focus on cultural celebration, ‘Trench Symphony’ is poised to become a defining moment in the nation’s music calendar, offering Lagos residents and visitors a night of unforgettable music, unity, and festive cheer.
This maiden edition sets the stage for future concerts that continue to blend diverse genres, demonstrating how Nigeria’s music industry can honor tradition while embracing innovation.
