In a significant political development, the Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Mrs. Maria Oligbi-Edeko, has tendered her resignation. Representing the Esan North-East II constituency under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Oligbi-Edeko cited the PDP’s minority status in the Assembly as the primary reason for her decision.
Her resignation paves the way for Osamwonyi Atu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Orhionmwon East to assume the position. This shift further consolidates the APC’s influence within the state’s legislative body.
Political analysts view this move as a reflection of the evolving power dynamics in Edo State’s political landscape, potentially impacting future legislative decisions and party alignments.
