Nigerian skitmaker and singer, Nasiru Lawal, popularly known as Nasboi, has stirred conversations on social media after openly expressing his desire to quit fame once he achieves financial security.
The entertainer, who has built a strong reputation in comedy, music, and acting, revealed that the pressures of fame have become overwhelming, prompting him to reconsider the future of his career.
In a candid post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Nasboi stated that money holds far greater value to him than popularity.
He explained that while fame has provided visibility and opportunities, it has also exposed him to stress, scrutiny, and expectations that he no longer wishes to deal with — not even in another lifetime. According to him, once he attains a personal target of ₦5 billion, he plans to withdraw completely from the public eye.
Expressing himself in his familiar humorous tone, yet with striking honesty, he wrote:
“I will choose having money over being famous… I no fit try this kind thing for my next life again. Once my money complete 5 billion, I don disembark. I no do again… No skit, no music, no acting. Make brain rest.”
Nasboi’s revelation did not come as a surprise to some of his fans who have observed his rapid rise in the entertainment world.
Over the years, he has seamlessly juggled multiple creative roles — from skit-making and character comedy to producing original music and making appearances in Nollywood projects. His versatility has earned him a loyal fanbase, but it has also come with intense pressure to constantly deliver fresh content.
He explained that he has already created an exit plan and intends to retire fully from the spotlight once his financial goal is met.
The entertainer emphasized that all he now seeks is rest, peace of mind, and stability, especially after years of nonstop creative work. For him, fame demands more than it gives, and despite the glamour attached to celebrity life, the emotional and mental cost is far too heavy to carry indefinitely.
His post immediately sparked reactions online, with many fans empathizing with his perspective. Some users agreed that the pressure of fame can be exhausting, especially in the age of social media where celebrities face constant criticism and unrealistic expectations.
Others, however, encouraged him not to give up, noting that his talent continues to inspire many and that he still has much to offer the entertainment scene.
Supporters also joked about contributing to his ₦5 billion goal to keep him active, while others asked him to consider taking breaks instead of quitting entirely. Despite the mixed reactions, Nasboi’s honesty resonated deeply with many Nigerians who understand the toll that public attention can take on entertainers.
As one of the most talked-about comedians of his generation, Nasboi’s declaration adds to the ongoing conversation about mental health, burnout, and the reality behind social media fame.
Whether he eventually steps away from the spotlight or continues entertaining fans for years to come, his message serves as a reminder that behind every joke, skit, and viral post is a human being seeking balance, peace, and fulfillment.
